O'Neill Library Seismograph Records Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake in Russia

Weston Observatory recently installed a seismograph in the O'Neill Library (first floor study area), and today we recorded our first earthquake.

The earthquake occurred beneath the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia. Because the epicentral area is sparsely populated and the earthquake was 100 miles deep, there have been no immediate reports of serious damage or casualties.
